MSW Intern Program

Social work interns from Los Angeles County MSW programs come together to provide a hub of services to support the creation and growth of healing relationships in families, schools, and the larger Lennox community. Scattered across the five elementary schools and Lennox Middle School, Juntos interns collaborate with students, teachers, and staff to provide individual therapy, wellness groups, in-class presentations and workshops, as well as community resources and referrals.
  • Individual therapy

Juntos interns provide individual support to Lennox students through strength-based, trauma-informed and culturally humble care. Individual students were seen for counseling with a wide range of needs such as: anger management, coping skills, support for stress and anxiety, and processing varying levels of trauma and grief due to immigration, exposure to violence, and abuse. Our interns empowered, advocated and provided a caring and comforting space for students from TK-8th grade.

  • Group wellness

Juntos interns create curriculum for student wellness groups to build community and target specific student needs. Past group topics include: grief and loss, social skills, self-esteem, LGBTQIA2S+ and allyship, stress and anxiety, newcomer group, friendships and anti-bullying, and psychoeducation in English and Spanish.

  • Crisis intervention and in-class support

Juntos interns provide crisis intervention in collaboration with school counselors and staff. They have had the opportunity to assist with in-class support to lead mindfulness and breathing exercises to promote self regulation and art activities to build resiliency and a growth mindset in students. Interns have also been proactive in addressing student needs by sharing socio-emotional tools with teachers, such as building calm corners, to address whole classroom needs in a more understanding and compassionate way.
